Recycling & Household Tips

  • A great way to maximize the last drips of jam in the jar is to shake up a fruity vinaigrette. Add equal parts oil and vinegar to the jar, give it a good shake, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Store fresh herbs as you would fresh flowers: in a jar of water on your countertop. Pluck off what you need, change the water daily, and they’ll last two to three times longer than they would in the fridge.
  • To improve soil structure, mix the left over tea leaves with the soil used for indoor plants. Use any excess tea you have to water your plants, since it will provide nutrients to the plants.
  • Collect egg shells, dry then pulverize. Mix with compost used for indoor plants. This will improve the soil structure and provide nutrients to the plants.
